ESES Announces New Partnership with Upcycle Africa

by Jeffrey Seay, PhD, PE

We are pleased to announce our partnership with Upcycle Africa, located in Mpigi, Uganda. Upcycle Africa is a social enterprise that focuses on environmental restoration, protection, and improvement in the lives of marginalized groups of people. They are addressing the waste plastic crisis in Africa by finding innovative used for post-consumer plastic, such as for use as building materials. Creating wealth from waste is a key focus. Unfortunately, not all waste plastic is suitable for use as building materials. This is where the partnership with ESES comes in. We will initially provide two Trash-to-Tank processors to Upcycle Africa as a pilot project. Broken or otherwise unsuitable polyolefin plastic will be used as feedstock for producing Plastic Derived Fuel Oil (PDFO). ESES plans to implement this project in the Summer of 2021. This is an exciting opportunity of both of our organizations.
